Genealogy Workshop

"Finding Your Italian Roots"

In ever increasing numbers, Americans of Italian descent are becoming interested in tracing their families back to Italy and visiting their ancestral villages. Fewer people, however, know how to begin and how to obtain information from Italy in Italian.

If you are reluctant to research Italian family records because you think you cannot read and write Italian and, thus, you will not able to understand the informational content of your family’s records should you locate them, this workshop is for you. It will help you get the minimal Italian language capability needed.

If you plan to conduct your genealogical research in Italian records by traveling to Italy and by corresponding with Italian repositories, this workshop will provide a glossary of Italian genealogical terms, Italian letter-writing guide, sample letters, data extract and research forms as well as online research aids, centers, journals, books and guides.

To make the most of your Italian journey, it is also essential that you prepare before and after it by using genealogical research organizations available in the USA. To that extent, a speaker from POINT-Sacramento will discuss membership, services and support.
